******************************************************************************** The Box Fun - Held Sunday 11th.October 2009 and staged in it's annual setting of the Box Rec. and surrounding area. The distance covered in the Ladies & Gents Open section was 6 and half miles. The Veteran Ladies and Gents Open covering half that distance, with the under 15 years girls and boys doing the same, with 150 competitors taking part. Prior to the race, as you can see local celeb, Clive Mantle presented to the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group Vice Chairman, Tino Polledri, the Box Fund Raising Branch's cheque for the amazing amount of £14,000

Nuggets From 2008Bath Cancer Unit Support Group - AGM - May 2008 Annual Presentation of £1000 Pounder Plus Certificates These certificates are awarded to groups/individuals who have donated in excess of £1000 pounds in the last financial year to the Cancer unit.

Tino is also the Chairman of the Trowbridge Fundraising Branch. In picture is Tino (left) with the then Mayor of Bath (right) Councilor Mrs. Sharon Ball, who is about to receive from Trowbridge Committee member David Birch, a cheque on behalf of the Support Group, from the Trowbridge Fund Raising Branch, for the magic sum of £35,000 N.B. (See "Newsy Nuggets" )

Some of the participating audience who as always are given a tour of the facilities and a chance to see where and how the monies they have raised have been used to improve the ambience of the Unit
On tour in the Unit, with a demonstration by Sue Macgregor of the Linac machine (administers radiotherapy). Like it's predecessor this machine was purchased by monies donated to the Support Group, an amount in excess of £1,000,000.!
A tour of the new (modular) day care centre and treatment ward and it's facilities. Opened in 2003 at a cost of £310,000 with monies provided entirely by the Support Group.

d just like to draw your attention to the fact that theTrowbridge Fund Raising Branch of the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group have in the month of April 2009, celebrated 21 years of raising funds for the Cancer Unit in the Royal United Hospital Bath. It is worth noting that in that time span, the Trowbridge Fund Raising Branch will have handed over to the Bath Trustees an amount in excess of £228,500 and in fact at the Trustees AGM on the 13th. May of 2009, they handed over an additional amount of £20,000 - making a round total of almost 1/4 million pounds, staggering!! An enormous amount of money, raised through, Quizzes, Karoke, donations and competitions etc. which means that the Crown & Sceptre qualifies for the £1000 pounder plus Certificate, that is presented by the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group annually at their AGM
